Homework is a way to connect with your child as a learner. It encourages communication and allows you a peek inside our classroom on a daily basis. Homework also allows you to help me catch misunderstandings on a daily basis. Allow your child to work independently first then check over and discuss and/or correct any problems you may encounter.
During the first semester, your child will bring home their homework in a packet on Monday. They should carry this packet back and forth to school each day as they will record their daily behavior. Homework should be completed by Friday each week unless otherwise noted.
At some point during second semester, your child will begin to transition to bringing assignments to and from school on a daily basis. They will also start to record their assignments on their own. This is to help them develop responsibility and also to transition easily to some of the expectations of third grade.
PLEASE remember that homework in second grade should not take no more than 20-30 minutes. If your child consistently is taking longer than this, please contact me. Together, we can create a plan for success.
